چکیده

The scope of the present study is to develop a prolonged the delivery of the active drug in the oral cavity using a suitable carrier such as in situ gels which can effectively deliver the drug for an extended duration of time hence not only reduce the systemic side effects but also improve the therapeutic efficacy, patient compliance. Local drug delivery systems are better suitable for antifungal drugs particularly for oral thrush. The viscosity of in situ system was found to be in the range (42.8 to 49.55 cps) for the sol, whereas for the gels it was up to (47820 cps). The maximum gel strength and mucoadhesion was found to be up to (120 seconds) and (4211 dynes/cm

PURPOSE To study the epidemiology of oral candidiasis and the effect of treatment of thrush in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS We conducted a prospective observational study of 92 patients over 1 year, including a nonblinded, randomized treatment trial of thrush with clotrimazole troches or oral fluconazole. Oral sites were cultured monthly and when ...

Formulation and In-vitro Evaluation of pH-Sensitive Oil Entrapped Polymeric Blend Amoxicillin Beads for the Eradication of Helicobacter pylori

Oral pH sensitive drug delivery systems are of utmost importance as these systems deliver the drug at specific part of the gastrointestine (GI) as per the pH of GI, resulting in improved patient therapeutic efficacy and compliance. The pH range of fluids in various segments of the GI tract may provide environmental stimuli for drug release. The aim of this study was to design buoyant beads c...

Formulation and Evaluation of in situ Gels Containing Clotrimazole for Oral Candidiasis

Gel dosage forms are successfully used as drug delivery systems to control drug release and protect the medicaments from a hostile environment. The main objective is to formulate and evaluate in situ oral topical gels of clotrimazole based on the concept of pH triggered and ion activated systems. The system utilizes polymers that exhibit sol-to-gel phase transition due to change in specific phy...

Preparation of SLN-containing Thermoresponsive In-situ Forming Gel as a Controlled Nanoparticle Delivery System and Investigating its Rheological, Thermal and Erosion Behavior

AbstractVarious nanoparticles have been investigated as novel drug delivery systems, including solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs). Due to their rapid clearance from systemic circulation, nanoparticles do not provide sustained action in most cases. Different strategies have been employed to overcome this problem. In this direction, the present study introduces erodible in-situ forming gel systems ...
